FAUX MARBLE INLAY CLASS

Classic faux marble is a must for the serious faux finisher and decorative painter who is interested in learning and developing the art of painted marble techniques. The student will learn the proper use of tools and glazes. Marc Photos will demonstrate White Carrara, Yellow Sienna, Sea Green-Ver de mer & Portoro (black & gold. NEW! European Faux Marble and Wood Graining Class

with Special Quest, Belgium Master Craftsman,

Patrick LaHayne

We are thrilled to have Belgium master craftsman Patrick Laheyne to our Connecticut studio for an intensive week long class. This 5 day, hands on class will focus on the structure and rendering of authentic faux bois (false wood) and faux marbre (false marble) in the European tradition. Students will gain rare insight into his work, instruction and techniques, using traditional mediums and water-based acrylics, Be prepared to go back home with a variety of samples for your portfolio and a solid foundation in this old world art form.

We will be painting four panels of: Yellow sienna, Rouge royal, Oak-heart grain & quarter sawn & birds eye maple. Possibly another sample if time allows.

There are only a two spots left for this rare opportunity to learn from a real European master craftsman.

Patrick is the senior instructor at the Belgium painting craft teachers college, one of Europe's finest training facilities for artisans. He is also a member of the Belgian Painters Society. He is considered one of the best craftsman and decorative artist in Europe and is well respected by his peers, worldwide.

5 day workshop- October 29,30,31-November1,2 Monday - Friday

Class fee: $1495

All materials and lunch included. There will be brushes supplied at the class or you can bring your favorite brushes and tools. A brush list and practice drawings will be made available before the time of the class.

Decorative painting & Faux Finishes 1 - TBA
This course is designed for the beginner and intermediate student. And interior decorators and professional painters who would like to expand their portfolios. Students will experiment with a variety of techniques; glazing, washes, sponging, ragging, strie, frottage, faux wood, faux marble, faux stone and or clouds.

Tuition:

Trompe l'Oeil and stencil class - TBA
Trompe l’Oeil- to fool the eye. This class will cover elements of light and shadow, fake moldings, rosette medallion, decorative ornament, vines and leaves and making your own stencils. Students will take home 5 to 6 sample boards.

Tuition :

Classic Mural Class - TBA
Students will cover light and shadow, forced perspective and painting and glazing techniques. Students will learn effective techniques to complete a large four foot by six foot wall mural, consisting of a trompe l'oeil stone wall and window with a view of a beautiful mountain/ sky landscape setting.

Advanced Faux Marble and Wood Graining - TBA
This class is designed for the intermediate and advanced student, who has basic experience and knowledge of faux finishing techniques and is interested in learning and developing the art of more complex graining and marbling.
The student will render a variety of exotic finishes.Birds-Eye Maple, Heart grain and Quarter sawn English oak or Mahogany, Yellow Sienna, Sea Green Ver de mer marble or Tortoise shell. Taking home 4 large 24x28 Panels.

Traditional & European Patina - Spring 2006 TBA

This class will focus on old world patina techniques. French & Italian patina, watermarked, smoke, distressed finishes. Heavy paint, ancient textures & fresco finishes. Students will learn to mix all there own glazes and heavy mediums.
